Learning Management System: Is Traditional Education History?
Looking through history we see extraordinary leaps and jumps within the education system, but whoever thought up of the learning management system to facilitate online learning? The progression from education then to education now is simply nothing less than an immense accomplishment, yet there seems to be continuous initiatives to develop new ways to further education. Technology is in a constant quest to develop innovative initiatives that ultimately strive to make every day routines efficient, and we see this constant drive even within the learning management system as new types of modules and courses are developed.
Going back to the 1700’s schools were very limited in size and resources with their one room school house that housed numerous age levels within one class. Schools started rapidly developing, opening their doors for children of all ages, social groups, ethnicities, and genders. Students were segmented into age groups and placed in separate classrooms with their own age specific curriculum. Skipping ahead a few centuries, computers were brought into schools for the first time. They soon made their way into the curriculum and computer classes were made mandatory for students to learn basic skills like typing.
