The Summer Before College
Getting read to go to college takes a lot of preparation. You have to buy so many things and prepare so much!. Not only do you need school supplies, but you need living supplies. You’re preparing to spend a year in a brand new home. You will spend a good deal of money while getting ready for college, but you will make it through. Your most expensive purchases will be on things like your laptop if you don’t already have one and bedding. I suggest trying to get a used laptop if you are tight on cash. A refurbished laptop may sound dangerous,When you are going out to buy your supplies, don’t be surprised if it takes you longer than expected. You will probably have to pick up some unexpected tings and visit different stores. Defiantly don’t take all you younger siblings along with you either. I would keep it small, such as you and you parents or even just one parent. Make a list and break it up into categories. You can shop for hygiene products and dorm room stuff one day and school supplies and clothing the next.
Your wardrobe needs to be taken into consideration as well. You have to plan according to the weather of where your new home is. Not everyone can come home for fall break, so you may have to get some winter clothes before hand. If this isn’t a possibility, you can always have your parents shop for you and mail you the clothing as the weather starts to turn. The best plan however is to take a winter coat just in case so that you’re not stranded.
The postage service means so much to kids in college. The quality of live improves so much when mom sends a care package. Mom and Dad can swing some good hair product and food to send you every couple months Since you probably don’t have much money., mom and dad will have to buy you these things sometimes. When you open up these packages, you will realize how much you value these everyday products you have been missing.
College is so much fun but scary as well. It is your time to blossom into an adult. You being experiencing how to live on your own and be financially responsible for yourself. However, you have mom and dad around to help you out still.
One day mom and dad won’t be able to help you much with buying things or doing things for you, so you should take advantage of it while you have it. Just remember that doing things on your own will teach you how to deal in the real world.
