Kids get bigger faster than anybody realizes. In one moment there is nothing more than a few cells and almost immediately vital organs are being built. There are only forty weeks from conception to independent life. Even after birth the changes happen quickly-personalities and decision making seem to happen almost at once. You probably already know a few facts about babies, like that they cannot change their own diapers and that they don’t yet know how to speak and that it takes them a while to figure out how to move on their own. You probably already know a few things about babies. You’ve been told that babies take time to recognize people. You already know that a baby will understand on instinct who his mother is even within a minute of being born. You probably already know that babies develop at vastly different rates. There are no exact dates for any of the major development milestones. There is so much more to know about babies and how they develop and grow! Infancy is a fascinating period in human development. A life changes so much between the time it is conceived and the time it starts going to school. Those little bodies might look like they can’t accomplish much but the fact is that those babies are working really hard to grow up!
