In New York City, playgrounds in low income areas were more likely to pose a safety risk because of poor maintenance. It was found that there was more rust, litter and damage in these areas. They also seriously lacked corner trim and protection. Subpar playground equipment at cheap prices usually means low quality and unsafe equipment. Would you really want your child playing on such equipment? Only the safest environments are what most parents want their child to play in. The increased safety and quality benefits that you get with better playground equipment does make the extra money it costs worth it.
