We would like to often think that we know our children, and some of us would readily admit that we do not know them at all. It is hopeful by educators, psychologists, etc. that parenting includes discussing with your teens the harms that they can undergo with drugs, sex, and of course, drinking. Such is not always the case.
Schools have taken to use a % keyword1 %. Of course, some parents are in an uproar. If you speak to a teacher, the fact remains that teachers/schools have “custody” of our teens a great percentage of the day. Many parents with both parents working, lack the discipline to constantly talk to their children about the dangers of drinking, not only at parties, but drinking and driving.

breathalyzers are used in social occasions such as proms, dances or even before sporting events. Some schools are trying to have children tested before entering school each day.
It is a known factor that even some of the best of teens are going to try to experiment. Some with drugs, some with alcohol. Some students bring alcohol to school. They have already reached a phase in their drinking that can be determined to be alcoholic.
It is a hard task trying to “raise” someone else’s children. The fact being that our educators have more than just one child to look after. What some students do, affects not just themselves, but others around them. It is a touch job, if parents are not stressing the fact about drinking and its effects, schools cannot be responsible for rearing these children. It is hoped when they administer a breathalyzer that if a teen proves positive that parents will take hold and try to bring the adolescent back to a stable ground. School districts do not want to wait until the problem gets out of control. There are arguments for and against % breathalyzers but the schools who have utilized them, said that their incidents with alcohol and teens has decreased significantly – - over a third!!
